Beauty / My Shopping Ventures / Product/Services Reviews / Skincare

My skin was in crisis about a week or so ago that I had to do something about it, fast. If you’ve read my posts, you know that I am a big fan of Korean products – ie snail creams, hand creams, etc, — and the only type of products (although there would be some exceptions, of course) that I would welcome into my family of skincare/beauty collection would be an organic or all-natural ones.

So, as I was running out of my creams supply anyway, I decided to peruse my local Holland and Barrett store, hoping to find something  that might pique my interest. Hence stumbling across Dr Organic’s range.

Dr Organic is a range of natural personal care products, that utilizes only the finest natural and organic raw materials wherever possible. This is a UK-based (in Swansea to be exact) company, which in just a year (2011), won 5 different awards! Wow.

And here’s what Dr Organic’s promise to their customers:

  • Organic Ingredients
  • Bioactive Ingredients – Uses certified bioactive extracts to ensure each product is truly functional by nature.
  • Natural Ingredients
  • No harsh chemicals – No parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), perfumes or artificial fragrances.
  • No animal ingredients
  • No animal testing
  • No mineral oils
  • No GM Ingredients
  • Preservatives*
*Where necessary preservatives are used to guarantee product safety and shelf life. Only the highest grade broad spectrum naturally derived preservatives are used.
Impressive. Right?

After reading the ingredients list of the Royal Jelly Night Cream and Tea Tree Lotion Daily Moisturizer, I decided to pick both. Over the last 2 years, I seem to have grown a liking towards the tea tree smell – whereas before, I would probably have stayed away from it. I got the two products for a good price since there was a Buy 1 Get 2nd half price offer at my local Holland and Barrett at that time. So I paid, £11 for both. Not bad.

  • Ingredients and Benefits.

What Dr Organic says about the product:

The unique combination of nutrients, amino acids and plant hormones makes Organic Royal Jelly a superb ingredient to help maintain a youthful appearance. Throughout history this wonderful ingredient has been heralded as natures fountain of youth. It is ideal for rejuvenating and nourishing the skin, while its anti-aging properties help maintain the skins elasticity, texture and tone.

  • Packaging

The yellow-themed packaging compliments the product very well. The jar, unfortunately, didn’t come with a spatula, so you either dip, or improvise and designate a teaspoon for it. In my case, I had a spatula that was included in the travel mini kit I bought before from Boots, so it came handy on this occasion.

  • Appearance and Texture

This cream has a thick consistency and feels very rich when applied. It has a creamy or off white appearance and indeed, gives lots of moisture. It does have this noticeable smell to it, almost sweet-like, but not distracting nonetheless. Once the cream has been fully absorbed, your skin would feel softer and moisturise. (Sorry, my 3rd pic doesn’t do justice to the end result)

  • Best for who?

I’d say this cream would definitely suit those with very dry to dry skin type since it’s very hydrating and nourishing. My skin feels drier during the daytime, and gets oilier at night time — a very strange skin type, I know!

So this moisture-enriched cream felt a little bit too much for my skin, although I did not break out when I tried it on. I did start to feel this tingling sensation, a clear sign that m skin wasn’t too happy with it. It’s such a shame really, since I really thought that this could be the one for me.

On the other hand, this experience certainly did not put me off using more of Dr Orgnanic’s other range. I just love the Tea Tree Daily Moisturizer and how soothing and calming it is on your skin.

Furthermore, I’ve been enjoying the benefits of Vitamin E Stretch Marks and Scar Serum, of which you wouldn’t want to miss my review on this. At the end of the day, we must all bear in mind that we do encounter a few hit-and-miss products, especially for our skin, since regardless of how this might work well for others, we all differ when it comes to skin types, skin needs and our environment, which also plays a factor on this.

Have you tried any of Dr Organic’s range? What’s your current favourite organic or all-natural products or Night Jelly?

  1. Hey!! Thnx for the Review. I’ve been looking for another moisturizer that does break my student budget too much. I’ve never seen Dr. Organic, but I might be temped to try a sample now. I usually just go for Olay 🙂 Are you all for Organic?

    • Hello! Thanks for dropping by:-) – I am a Mom on a BUDGET ha ha, so yes every little savings helps big time! I don’t think I am all for Organic right now, but I have been enjoying lots of organic products lately that I’ve tried. I love Korean beauty products, that’s a given but lately I’ve ventured towards products that are paraben-free, sls-free etc since I have a very sensitive skin. You might want to head down to your local H&B just to check them out or smell Dr Organic’s range 🙂

  2. We need to solve your crisis, you need to be able to eat chocolate. All girls need chocolate. I’ve never really bothered with Holland and Barrett before, I thought it was all supplements and stuff, but I might have a wander in one now x

    • Breige, I am so sorry, I literally just saw your comment here, well it was in my spam folder??!! I know right, I should be able to EAT CHOCOLATES!. he he. I know, I was the same too. I thought it was just vitamins and whatnot, but then I saw their range. Let me know what you find.

Now, your turn. This space is all yours!
